Short story: I was born in Austell, Georgia. My father was in the ARMY so we moved when I was 2 to Washington D.C. When I was 4 we moved to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico where I got into sports. At age 8, we moved to Fort Richardson, Alaska, and then Eagle River where my family still resides. Alaska is a wonderful place to live if you enjoy the outdoors and wildlife. I was privy to some of the best winter activities. I grew up playing virtually every sport I could play like soccer, basketball, gymnastics, hockey, sledding, and skiing (not to mention we had some pretty exciting snowball fights). In my freshman year of high school I joined choir. I mainly joined for the easy A, but learned that singing was my newfound dream (and it also was a great place to meet girls). By the time I graduated high school, I was taking 3 choir classes each semester. I knew this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to move to California and be an entertainer. What kind, I had no idea. At age 18, I moved to Southern California to pursue that dream of music/acting and entertainment. I moved there with next to no money and no car. My first apartment was a 2 bedroom apartment shared between four guys. Andy Smithey (whom I will speak of later) was my first roommate ever. I was part of a song and dance company call The Young Americans (YA's). YA's was comprised of many individuals just like me who shared the dream of being a professional entertainer someday. The couple of years I was involved with YA's created some of the most memorable moments in my life. It was during those precious years that I started to cultivate who Shawn Thomas really was. Music makes you grow as a person. Music makes you search for who you are deep down inside. Standing in front of a crowd by yourself can be the most nerve-racking experience or it can be the most exciting time of your life. After 3 years of YA's and attending college, I decided it was time for me to pursue a singing career. I started auditioning in Hollywood. It seemed as though GOD was looking over me as it did not take long to score. In 1991 I was awarded a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records and a position as performer in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The music group was N/MOTION. It was comprised of myself, Jon Ross and Andy Smithey (my first roommate). During the next 16 months, we shot a music video, recorded a CD, and trained at circus headquarters in Venice, Florida. We traveled with the circus for an entire year and had an absolute incredible time. We met all kinds of people and got to see virtually the entire United States. I could probably write a book about it. After the tour was over, I moved to Birmingham Alabama for a few years and then finally ended up in Memphis Tennessee where I reside today. I moved to Memphis in 1994. I started an insurance career where I was truly happy. It was my first experience in sales and today I cannot think of a better career than sales. It provided me everything I could ever want in a career. In 1999 I started building the dream of what is now called Uniguest of Tennessee, Inc. (www.uniguest.com). Over the past 6 years, my life has come full circle. There have been ups and downs and made many good decisions and bad decisions. Through it all, I am thankful that close friends became closer and family ties remained strong. Thank you to those of you who were able to make it through with me and never lost faith in our relationship. It means the world to me. That is it in a nutshell. If you want more information, buy me a nice cigar and a cocktail and I will fill in the details.
